Art for Kids Hub
Art lessons done family style. Creative Dad leads his kids and everyone else in guided drawing lessons that include the art elements of line, shape, patterns, texture, and color. You can draw everything from animals to vehicles. Click on lessons for every season and follow along. Art lessons also include field trips to several art museums and even ice castle sculptures. Creative Dad, along with his enthusiastic family, is always up for a new art adventure. You can go too!

Developmentally Appropriate Practice:
Visual Arts creating standard one is generating and conceptualizing an artistic idea and work. Students learn to use their creative and innovative thinking as they develop their artistic skills. Students can brainstorm collaboratively multiple approaches to an art or design problem (V.A.:Cr1.1.2a). Students can also make art or design with various materials and tools to explore personal interests, questions, and curiosity (V.A.:Cr1.2.2a).
Visual Arts creating standard two is the organization and development of artistic ideas and work. New materials and tools are presented often to encourage competence with a wide variety of art supplies. The performance standard is students will experiment with various materials and tools to explore personal interests in a work of art or design (V.A.:Cr2.1.2a).
Visual Arts standard anchor ten asks students to synthesize and relate knowledge and personal experiences to make art. People communicate meaning in their art by investigating and building awareness of perceptions, knowledge, and experiences from unique perspectives. Students will create works of art about events home school or community life (V.A.:Cn10,1.2a).
The connections that students make to their interests and everyday experiences enriched their learning experiences while developing critical thinking skills. Cultural sensitivity to a wide variety of cultures and perspectives is highlighted through the artistic work explored through many museum visits.
